The Laennec lab coat length varies by size, measured from C7 to back center hem (size 36 = 36.5”, 40 = 37.5”, 46 = 39”). Laennec is most flattering on statures 5’10” and taller.

Designed to fit like a men's blazer in combination with necessary ergonomics for comfort and ideal range of motion

  • The Laennec men’s lab coat is a true classic fit, defined as loose and relaxed yet tailored and high-end in appearance and functionality.
  • Laennec is pocket-rich style that is extremely embroidery friendly, boasting more chest room than the slim-fit men’s lab coat styles.
  • Laennec is offered in sizes 34 – 54, which is the broadest size offering of all Medelita coats. Also unique to Laennec is the presence of hand access vents, not present on other lab coat styles.

In choosing a men’s high-performance lab coat style, major differentiators are:

  • Stretch fabric (Cushing, Osler and Bernard) v. non-stretch fabric (Laennec, Wilson)
  • Length (longest to shortest = Wilson, Laennec, Cushing and Osler are same length, then Bernard)
  • Classic fit (Laennec) v. slim-fit (Bernard, Osler, Cushing Wilson)
  • Within the slim-fit category, slimmest to relaxed-slim = Bernard, Osler, Cushing, Wilson)

Key Features

  • Classic notched lapels.
  • 1 chest welt pocket, 2 inside pockets and 2 patch pockets that fit modern tablets.
  • Front suit seaming and a vent at the back seam.
  • A slightly relaxed fit more reminiscent of a blazer than lab coat.

Care Guide

Years ago when I searched for my own uniform, I couldn't find performance fabric that could be washed and dried on hot temperatures. Medelita fabrics are third party tested to withstand a minimum of 50 wash cycles at 60-70 degrees Celcius and 24 minute dryer cycles on hot. You will still not find that level of performance anywhere else.

We have updated our care instructions with a quick pop-up guide to include specific guidelines for sanitizing your MEDELITA garments:

See The Guide

  • Avoid shaking clothing or quick movements while undressing.
  • Consider placing worn scrubs in a washable laundry bag and placing entire bag (with cinch loosened) in the washer.
  • Medelita garments have stain release functionality, so most stains will resolve with detergent alone.
  • For COVID-19 exposed garments, avoid pre-treating and simply add ½ cup peroxide to wash.
  • If non-COVID exposure, we recommended Amodex® for ink stains & OxyClean® Spray or Shout® Foam for other stains.
  • Regular laundry detergent easily disrupts the lipid layer of COVID-19.
  • Chlorine bleach is not recommended and not required for COVID-19 exposed garments.
  • Color-safe bleach is ok.
  • To preserve the innovative moisture wicking and quick-dry technology, do not use liquid fabric softener.
  • Do not use dryer sheets to avoid plugging the moisture-wicking fabric functionality.
  • Dry garments completely as per CDC.
  • Remove from dryer at end of cycle and hang for a wrinkle-free appearance.
  • Industrial laundry is recommended for hospital laundered garments.
  • If professional dry cleaning is common at your facility, request laundry v. dry cleaning for adequate lipid disruption.
  • Request no starch.
