Patty Olino is a nursing student who is just one semester shy of graduating with her Bachelor's in Nursing from Fresno State, while she is simultaneously completing her pre-med coursework. In her spare time, Patty loves to run long distance - an activity that requires the mental strength that is applicable to all facets of life.
As a highly ambitious female in medicine, Patty has chosen a unique path to medicine: choosing to start her medical career as an RN for 1-2 years and then applying to medical school.
In her own words,
"I chose this unconventional path because I wanted the greatest opportunity to immerse myself in the health care setting and create valuable experiences that will someday make me a more compassionate provider. My favorite aspect of my job is having the opportunity to interact with real people, listen to their concerns, and use my knowledge to heal them. I have enjoyed being an advocate for patients to ensure they reach the greatest potential for wellness. The biggest challenge thus far has been adapting to the demanding pace of nursing/medicine while still maintaining mental and physical health.
Professional style is adopting an approach to wearing scrubs and lab coats that characterize the modern woman or man. It ultimately means wearing innovating and clean designs that will give us confidence to perform our best in the clinical setting."
